Tsunami Rising
Nov 21, 2006
    The music of Tsunami
    Rising is ever evolving as
    they continue to grow as
people and as a band. As
    musicians, they strive to
    create something unique
    to provide an original
sound to part the vast sea
    of generic imposters.
    Instead of imitating their
    influences Tsunami Rising
    tries to build from them,
    blending the sounds of
    Reggae, Ska, Rock, Punk,
    Jam and Experimental to
form a style of their own.
The band takes pride in an original and energetic live show complete with everything from
conga jams to emotional breakdowns that always have the audience moving. Aside from the
music, Tsunami Rising tries to leave the listener informed and enlightened whether it be
lyrically or through a recent blog.

The Community Idea Stations are central Virginia’s primary producers of local programs,
including weekly series such as the award-winning newsmagazine “Virginia Currents,” the

Coming from the college town of Farmville, VA, the band has worked hard to become a
prominent act in the region. In the past year they have gained support across Virginia,
Maryland, DC, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and North Carolina and continue to spread out
from their current home in Richmond VA. "It's exciting to pull up our online CD sales and see
that people are spreading our music beyond our touring region. We're looking forward
stretching our shows beyond the states we've already played as soon as we can," says multi-
instrumentalist/backing vocalist Brian Reed. "Right now we're doing the grassroots thing and
just trying to play as many shows as possible.

With a powerful live performance, they consistently come to life on stage, creating an
atmosphere of singing, dancing, and good times. Listeners of all ages and genres find a
sense of community with Jubeus, as they appeal to a cross of cultures. For this reason, the
band has performed events as formal as weddings and corporate parties and as wild as frat
    parties and hard rock festivals.

They have had the honor of sharing the stage with a variety of national and regional acts
including Everclear, Donna the Buffalo, Oteil (of the Allman Brothers Band) and the
Peacemakers, The Sugar Hill Gang, The Two Skinny J's, The Mosquitos, DJ Williams,
Soldiers of Jah Army(SOJA), U-Melt, The Ordinary Way, The Ryan Montbleau Band, Special
Ed and the Shortbus Bluegrass Band, Cast Iron Filter, Pinmonkey, and Michelle Nixon. Their
debut album, Two Tone Circles, sets the band apart with its mixture of soul, folk, Caribbean,
and rock into one cohesive sound. The band is hard at work in the studio and plans to
release their sophomore album in the coming year.

Arts and Entertainment...literally!
Artspace was the place to be this past
Thursday for a great night of music in
a truly artsy venue..at the Artspace
Gallery on E.4th St.  The band Adah,
took the stage first.  Their style of
haunting melodic lyrics, mixed in with
indie- pop music, makes for a unique
sound.  The whole Adah gang is back
and sounding great!

At The Stars played their new tunes
and sounded great with their new bass
player, Steve Barber.  These guys do
reach for the stars with their
performance.  Catch the interview with
At The Stars right here on the
Richmond Buzz on Nov 15th.

Baltimore based band, The Frauds
took the stage and lit it up with an
electric performance.  Energy, talent
and a mixture of "The It Factor" was
radiating from their memorable
performance.  The band's drummer,
Ernie Emerson Jr. kicks up his
performance to a whole new level, he
is one drummer that does more than
strike a drum.  Rick Bowman( Guitar,
Vocals) and Eric Emerson (Bass,
Vocals) both have an equally matched
stage presence with good vocals and
nice guitar work.  Baltimore should be
proud, they are a great band!

Last but not least,
Penguin took the
stage and rocked out a killer
performance with their grunge rock
style.  Penguin will be playing Ocean
City,Boston,New york, and New Orleans
all in the next 9 days!

Who knew Thursday nights could be so
fun!

Jubeus is a
song-driven roots
rock quintet with
soulful expression,
heartfelt lyrics and
head bobbing
grooves. Their
sound has been
compared to the
likes of artists such
as Ben Harper,
Paul Simon, and
Maroon 5, but the
tunes on display
are dinstinctly
Jubean.
Craziest musical
experience-Being
accidentally entered into the
wrong genre(heavy death
metal) battle of the bands.
As soon as we showed up,
it was apparent that we
were out of place. We
definitely knew we were out
of place when the act
before us featured a guy
hanging cinder blocks from
his nipples. As you can
imagine, when we
approached the stage with
our acoustic instruments,
everyone looked at as us
like we were from another
planet. Despite the circumstances, we still rocked out the best we could and managed to
make at least a few unsuspecting heads move. We didn't win that battle of the bands that
year, but at least we came out alive.  Jubeus, playing Alley Katz on Saturday Dec 16, 2006

    To those who have never
    seen/heard us we like to
    consider ourselves a fusion
    of reggae, rock, punk, ska,
jam and hip hop. We find
    ourselves constantly
    progressing.  Live we
perform with a ton of energy
and love to keep the crowd
    involved.
    Our craziest experience...
    hmmm...I don't know how
much detail we can get into
but let's just say it's involved

Over the last few years Tsunami Rising has made a name for themselves along the East
Coast by playing shows in venues such as The Trocadero, The Pontiac Grille, The Barbary,
    The Fire and The Tritone in Philadelphia; The Knitting Factory and Lit Lounge in NYC;
Asbury Lanes, The Stone Pony and Le Grand Fromage in New Jersey; as well as many
other clubs, halls, colleges and bars. The future holds big things for the band as they plan to
tour this January to promote their recent Full Length; All You Need You Have Inside. With a
rapidly growing fan base and a style to claim their own Tsunami Rising is bound to make
    waves.
a lot of substance (including hallucinations of the pope paying off the US government), an
accidental encounter with 2 ebony escorts (that some thought could have been men) and
$200,000...and this was all before we played a 3 hour set in Atlantic City. The details maybe
be incriminating so...maybe we made it up...but maybe we didn't.
