Duchess of York should
be on the list, and
honestly any list of
richmond bands that are
supposedly "hot" that
doesn't have duchess of
york on it is a joke,
especially with some of
the bands on this list.

October 2006 Top Hot 5 Musicians    Reviewed
    ________________________________________________________

    #1                                The Atkinsons
The Atkinsons are one of the best Americana bands in Richmond.
This band delivers a good time with fantastic performances and
songs that make people want to sing along.   Original songs like
"Caroline"  and "Best Thing" tap into deep emotions with lyrics of
bittersweet tales of woe and heartbreak.  The Atkinsons are a unique
ensemble of musicians with a great harmonizing sound!

    The Atkinsons band members:
Dickie Wood - lead vocals, guitar; Jeff Williams - mandolin, guitar,
vocals; Jamie Wood - harmony vocals, percussion; Ricky Breland -
bass; Mike Ferry - fiddle; Kris Krull - drums, harmony vocals

    #2                               Conshafter
Richmond has been a hot bed for a new generation of  up and coming
talents.  Taking  second place on The List is the brilliant band,
Conshafter.  Lead singer Chis Konstantinos has that "A" type
personality that explodes on stage.  Conshafter's rock-powerpop-
alternative style has already caught the attention of MTV's producers,
who featured some of the bands songs on the hit Reality show
"Made".   Conshafter's music has melodic pop hooks, roaring guitar
riffs, and sharp lyrics.  I recommend this band and I don't expect them
to be docked here in Richmond for very long.   -Good Stuff!

    Conshafter band members:
Dave Cykert - Guitar ;Chis Konstantinos - Vocals :Sarah McCalla -
Bass ; Travis Wilson - Drums.

#3   Aircraft
Catchy songs, excellent guitar arrangements, and vocals that you
can't help singing along with are some of the reasons this talented
band ranks in this months list.  Aircraft's wonderful mix of guitar,
keyboard, and drums are intricately laced together, creating songs
worthy of a CD player's repeat mode!

    Aircraft band members
Josh- Vocals and Guitar ; Joel- Drums ; Mark - Keyboards ; Jesse -
    Guitar ; Bryan - Bass

    #4  One Friend
One Friend is a great alternative rock band, whose songwriting cuts
into the heart of  the often overlooked pivotal moments in one's day or
year that really make a difference in the grand scheme of things.
Sincerety and honesty ring through in their music and take a listener
into many ponderous thoughts and emotions.  Lead singer Peter
D'Alema's moody and subtle vocal stylings, show case this bands
    talents and signature sound.

    One Friend band members:
Phil Barbato, Peter D'Alema. Matt Hulcher, and Jake McKenna

    #5 Ki :Theory
The name "Ki:Theory" is the blend of  the Japanese concept of "ki"
(pronounced "key") and Einstein's "string theory,"  The band has gone
through many member changes over the years.  These days, Ki:
Theory is Joel Burleson's genre-mashing solo debut.  The current CD
Brittle Branches is a unique variety of sounds that is as much lo-fi and
organic as it is forward thinking.  Burleson recently got some well
deserved exposure from the hit TV show CSI,  which the episode
"Burn Out", contained the Ki:Theory track "Ouija".  A unique sound
with a fresh alternative musical drive.  Be sure to check  Burleson's
accoustic versions of his songs click here
