Watermelon Festival
** Good Stuff! **
The 2006 Watermelon Festival was a great time for all to enjoy the wide
variety of food, shopping, entertainment, and of course-watermelon.  Cary
street was loaded with fun for the whole family, a play area with moon
bounces and an airplane ride which had kids of all ages lining up for some
big fun.  There were even accommodations to cool off the family pet in
kiddie pools.  If the shopping and the funnel cakes didn't strike your fancy,
there was a huge line up of musicians playing on 10 stages.
Some of the highlights included:
6 Foot Loofah is one groovy band!  Alycia kept things fresh with her powerful vocals.  The band played
some crowd favorites, "Consume" and "Stealing Time".   Johnny was throwing out his cool cat vibe- great
drummer!   Shelby, is a superb Bass Player and his rythm really stands out in the songs.  One of the key
elements that 6 Foot Loofah excels at is that each instrument blends in well and they truly pull off a marriage
of excellent power pop.   "Van Lloyden" (a.k.a. Dave Lloyd) awesome guitar work!  Your days playing at
the Cinqo Pesos Coin Laundry Mat discotheque by night- have really paid off!  Check out Daves hilarious bio

Ominotago gave an amazing performance with great vocals-Good stuff!  Chelsea really gives the
Cranberries a run for their money!  The harmony of Beau and Chelsea's vocals really resonates their
passion which results in great singing and song writing.  This dynamic

59H20 sounded great with their new bass player Brian Tanner.  Lead singer, Donna Thornton-Long's
seasoned vocals were dead on as they evoked the emotions of her rockin lyrics.   Kelly Hanz who plays
keyboards really shines with her style and backing vocals.   Lead Guitarist, Rob Birzer's playing is so
impressive and his guitar licks easily stay embedded in your mind.  Drummer, Wiley Long didn't skip a beat
and had the whole crowd tuned in with his striking drumming.   The whole band has such a presence with
their music, weaving dynamic lyrics and passionate performances.

The Floating Folk Rock band put on a great show, it was a enjoyably eclectic musical experience with lots of
talented musicians.  The group has revolving roster of performers that change from venue to venue.  The
talented Pam McCarthy shined with her unique lustrous voice-pure, soft and soulful.  Wendy Pace gave a
strong and memorable performance.

Blueline Highway was a crowd pleaser, their good vibe had people shaking their hips and swaying to thier
smooth sounds.  Nice harmonizing vocals mixed with some really sweet guitar work.

The Rogan Brothers were definitely worth checking out, their toe tappin tunes were a mix of good vocals
and nice guitar work.

Katana Mantra had a real stage presence and really rocked out!  Lead Singer,  Brian Lytle commanded the
crowd with his strong vocals.  If you want to hear Rock, this band serves it up and it's oh so good!

The Atkinsons Americana style of music really pulled in a  crowd at Babes.  Lead Singer, Dickie Wood has
such a unique voice, his talents were front and center as he  belted out their popular tunes.

Tidewater area and a member the floating folk and rock festival in Richmond.  Student of Bill Miller (grammy
winner). Christopher's band's name is Broken Arrow, which is toted as the best damn Neil Young act in
Richmond.

Signal 7 sounded awesome, its no wonder they have such a fan following.  The group played 2 originals
and wide variety of our covers ranging from Maroon 5's Harder to Breath- to U2's Bullet the Blue Sky -to
the Devil Went Down Georgia, all favorite standards.

The 2006 Watermelon Festival was loaded with the very best of Richmond's own local entertainment and
good times.
